The sooner you realize we live in a capitalist society, the sooner you will cease living a life filled with disappointment and despair, at least at the mall. Designers and manufacturers want to make money, and to make money you have to sell clothes, and to sell a lot of clothes you need to manufacture garments that fit as many body types as possible.
In case you haven’t noticed, people come in countless combinations of sizes, shapes and proportions. Some people have big asses, some people have legs that meet their backs with nearly a bump along the way. Some people are tall, and some people are so small that you could carry them around in a Birkin bag. Cute!
So how can one structured jacket fit all those height-and-weight combinations?
It can’t.
Therefore is unreasonable for you to expect garments to fit you perfectly off the rack. I cannot stress enough the importance of buying the correct size and and having a good tailor. These two things make the difference between mediocre and FABULOSITY.
Most of the time clothes will “almost” fit. And you cannot have style when clothes “almost” fit. It’s like being almost a roof repair specialist when everyone knows you have a roof leak in your own house that you should have fixed a year ago.
Sometimes things fit right off the rack, but most of the time they won’t. When something “almost” fits, you have two options:
- Try on more stuff until you find something that actually fits.
- Take it to the tailor and make it “actually” fit.
